Up until the summer of 2012, I had worked on and off for 22 years in the graphic design, pre-press, and print industry, working for multiple companies around Atlanta. I had a wonderful community of business associates, was given a lot of experience in Point Of Purchase display and design work, and had established a decent reputation amongst my peers.
Still, there was missing something. I needed to get my hands dirty. I needed to have projects that I had sole creative control over, and projects that could be as complex or as simple as I needed them to be. I needed to get away from the feelings of hesitation and reluctance when waking up and driving to work, thinking of the non-creative and mundane day ahead of me.
So, with a suggestion from my lovely wife, I began dabbling with and researching leather work. I did this for about 6 months; reading, watching, experimenting, and trying anything that I thought could offer me some insight into how to make this hobby into a profession.
So in the summer of 2012, I came to the point in my life where I realized I truly needed some sort of change - specifically in regards to my career. I handed in my resignation, and with the loving and unlimited support of my wife and friends, I began Sons of Plunder Leatherwork.
Sons of Plunder has therefore become my primary business; self-owned and self-operated, specializing in fine leather goods, leather masks, and leather accessories.
I have always had a love and creative passion for fine, hand-made leather items. In particular, those that have a unique or antique style, yet have excellent functionality and longevity about them. That in itself is my goal for Sons of Plunder.
I hope to provide leather items that have a richness and sometimes "archaic" or aged look, while also making sure that each item will provide the user with excellent and reliable performance for years to come.
I am slowly building up a stock of new and original items, and will be constantly adding more as time goes on. I hope that you will stop by my gallery here regularly and hope that you will think of SoP whenever you are looking to add something special to your collection of masks, costume accessories, or every-day apparel.
This year I plan to add more of these unique and useful items to my Etsy page, and hope that you will stop in to do a bit of shopping when looking for leather accessories:
www.etsy.com/shop/SonsOfPlunde…You can also contact me directly concerning commissioned works, but those may be limited, based upon the scope of the project and the time frame in which it need be delivered. Regardless, if you have something in mind, let me know. We can work it out. :-)
I look forward to seeing where this adventure leads us and look forward to hearing from you all.
